Welcome to the MA Dissertation - Jan 26

Initial Teacher Training PGCE delivered by OTT with PGCE award from University of Buckingham

This module, accredited by Advance HE and mapped to the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) 2023, develops participants' expertise in programme design, quality assurance, and scholarly teaching. It supports reflective and evidence-based practices, mentoring, peer support, and the use of learning analytics to enhance academic practice. Completion of this module contributes to eligibility for Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA).
This module aims to develop a critical and reflective understanding of pedagogical approaches and their application within higher education, addressing both teaching and support of learning practices. By engaging with the Advance HE Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023) Descriptor 1, the module supports participants in achieving Associate Fellow (AFHEA) recognition while also preparing them for further professional development and evidence of effective practice deepening toward the Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA) at the end of Module 2.
The PGCAP programme is designed for both academic and professional services staff, equipping participants with the skills to create inclusive and effective learning environments that meet the diverse needs of learners in higher education. Participants will reflect-on and improve their ability to design and implement inclusive and effective educational and assessment strategies that are aligned with intended learning outcomes, promote engagement and success for all learners.
At the core of this module is evidence-informed reflective practice, which encourages participants to critically evaluate their professional practices and identify areas for enhancement. Through an evidence-based approach, participants will be empowered to refine their educational strategies and contribute meaningfully to their academic and professional communities. This will be more expanded as participants progress to Module 2 preparing
them for more advanced programme-level responsibilities.

Welcome to the University of Buckingham. We are delighted to have you as part of this year’s cohort. The Post-Graduate Certificate in Mentoring is offered to all of those people involved in mentoring in Education. Those participating in this Certificate programme will gain an enhanced understanding of what it means to be a mentor in an educational setting, and you will also be encouraged to reflect on your own experiences. The programme aims to build on the skills developed on your educational pathways. This course aims to translate educational thinking, theory and research into effective mentoring. It also enables those of you who might be new to reading research to understand how this can translate into effective practice.
