This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the nature of management accounting, its fundamental concepts and principles and its role in organisational planning, control and decision-making.

After taking this module, students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate understanding of the principles of cost analysis and analyse their relevance for planning and decision making.

2. Explain the principles and problems of product costing.

3. Communicate the principles of capital budgeting and evaluate the main financial appraisal techniques employed in this area.

4. Recognise the control function of accounting, especially working capital management and budgeting.
