The module, together with the module European Union law 1, is designed to fulfil the core requirement for European Union law for a qualifying law degree (QLD).

By the end of the module, students will be able to apply and evaluate the current law on: the preliminary ruling procedure; and the direct remedies in EU law before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). It aims to get the student to master knowledge about remedies and to comprehend the obstacles in relation to legal or natural persons seeking remedies directly before the CJEU. The module will also consider two areas of substantive law: the internal market of the free movement of goods and persons, including services and establishment. Within the module, students will develop a deep understanding and appreciation of the issues relating to the above.
